Cynthia Swinson Leeks

Cynthia Swinson Leeks is a graduate of Shaw University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science.  With more than 30 years of experience working in the State of North Carolina in Human Resource Management, Cynthia Leeks is an expert in strategic planning, workshop facilitation, transforming organizational cultures and systems, data analysis, and community focused management.  As president of the Seabrook/Broadell Community Watch Group she links more than 700 community residents with needs and services.  Ms. Leeks has served as City of Fayetteville Community Ambassador and led the group in getting a neighborhood planning grant.

Her many contributions to the community include service as a committee member of the Friends of African American Fund via Cumberland County; hosting political fund raisers; organizing and conducting historic preservation initiative tours; and interviewing elders of her community.  Cynthia Leeks is a partner with Second Harvest of Action Pathways of Fayetteville, NC, and an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. of Fayetteville, NC; and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Local Chapter.  She is a volunteer with the Fayetteville, NC Board of Elections, and a poll watcher.  Ms. Leeks also is a member and participant who raises funds for the NC Arts Council.  As an advocate for Alzheimer’s of America, she currently serves as Captain for three teams to raise funds.
